I met Oscar when he was producing Ottmar Liebert’s classical release. He had played his trusted Tama guitar for decades and told me he hadn’t realized he needed any other guitar until he played one of mine. He wanted the richness of a cedar top classical, with the playability for Brazilian jazz and a MIDI interface for composing. You can read about Oscar’s incredible career here. Oscar played with La Bella 413P Professional recording strings.
His guitar was made with Western Red Cedar soundboard, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, bound in ebony and French polished with seedlac/copal. Scale length: 652mm
Here is Oscar Castro-Neves on guitar, Don Grusin on piano, Charlie Bisharat on violin, Alex Acuña on drums, Kátia Moraes on vocals, Gary Meek on flute, and Abe Laboriel on bass.
